Since its purchase from the Mississauga-Chippewa Indians in 1787, for £1,700 pounds in cash and merchandise, Etobicoke (the Indian Name meaning "Where the Black Alders Grow" ) has been steeped in traditional values. The first Canadian Pioneer families brought to this area a spirit of community and transformed this neighbourhood into one of Canada's most desirable living centres.
Barclay Terrace is proud to be part of this community. Located in the heart of Islington Village, at the south west corner of Dundas West and Islington, everything is done for you! No more shovelling snow or cutting grass. All you need to do is to enjoy our splendid gardens and wonderful recreation facilities. Our residents enjoy 24 hour concierge who always greet you with a smile when you enter our lobby - a sweeping cathedral atrium design.
Our recreation area is a tribute to fun, fitness and leisure. We have a large indoor pool, hot tub, whirlpool and saunas where you can relax after playing racquet ball, squash or working out in the exercise room. Our full time Recreation Coordinator provides residents with free aqua fit and exercise classes. We also have a party room with a dance floor. You can play billiards or pool, watch a video or chat by the fireplace in the poolside lounge.
Outside we have tennis courts, jogging track and a beautiful reflective pool with a gazebo and seating areas. Our neighbourhood has great shops and services, fine restaurants, entertainment, schools and public transportation; golf and country clubs and parks. Our residents enjoy the good life and are proud to call Barclay Terrace home.
We celebrated our 20th birthday in 2007 where residents and staff came together to share this important milestone. Barclay Terrace has a strong sense of community and is one of the friendliest buildings in Toronto.
